In September 2024, China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) issued a national tender for the Evo Substation Project, part of the Bouangi-Evo Transmission and Transformation Project. This project involved delivering cables thousands of miles away to the Republic of Congo. Given the critical importance of cable quality to the lives of tens of millions of users, CMEC prioritized wires and cables from the outset, requiring all suppliers to provide professional inspection reports from a reputable quality inspection agency. This ensured that every meter of cable purchased met national standards, eliminating non-standard cables at the source. In response, the project established technical requirements for cable functional design, structure, performance, installation, and testing, ultimately selecting our company as the preferred manufacturer. Based on the tenderer's requirements, including the site environment and cable laying conditions, and in light of the project's practical realities, our engineering team analyzed and discussed design cases to optimize cable laying methods and improve the cable laying environment. They discovered that the cable sheath was susceptible to mechanical damage during laying. The cable was buried insufficiently deep and lacked protective panels. Furthermore, the drainage ditch intersected the cable, with the bottom of the ditch almost touching the cable, resulting in zero clearance. Therefore, CMEC implemented anti-seepage measures during production to protect the cable from sewage erosion. To prevent overheating of cable heads and insulation burnout caused by long-term operation, our company strictly requires the production of high-strength cables to slow down the aging of cable insulation. We have proposed corresponding design optimization solutions to address the problems existing in substation projects. This lays a solid foundation for the safe operation of substation power systems, truly ensuring power supply reliability, good power quality, and economical power supply.
